A member asked:

How would you perform a wheelchair transfer using a pivot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stand-pivot: Stand-pivot transfers are most commonly used when the person has one-sided weakness as would be the case after a stroke. The person should be seated with the knees lower than the hips and the heels back somewhat behind the knees. From this position the person is helped to standing placing the weight on the strong side, pivots, and lowers slowly on the wheelchair (with or without assistance).
