Many: Overweight is a classification based on what is considered healthy body weight. A bmi > 25 (while it has flaws) is calculated based on your height and weight. There are many social, emotional, and physical effects of being overweight including increased risk for high blood pressure, coronary problems, diabetes, stroke, joint pain, depression, stress, low self-esteem, and stigma to name a few.
