A member asked:

How long do stitches need to stay in place?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Varies with location: Healing of incisions depends upon the richness of the underlying blood supply. In the head and neck, it is rich and stitches generally can be removed in a week or so. In other parts of the body the time needed is longer with the longest being the lower part of the legs. It also depends upon the tension that the stitches are holding.
