A member asked:

Can cystitis be transmitted via sex?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Cystitis is a bladder infection which can be related to having sex but is not usually transmitted by sex. It may be that during intercourse, the bacteria that normally live on the outside of your perineum (bottom) can more easily enter the bladder. This is why urinating after intercourse may help prevent a bladder infection.
