Can air travel affect the healing rate of a retinal detachment?

Possible: Depends if they injected gas into the eye- the gas can expand at higher altitudes and cause trouble.

Depends: If a gas bubble was injected into the eye to treat this, then you can not fly or go up to high altitudes because the gas bubble will expand and harm the eye (the eye pressure will become too elevated).
