Depends: If used occasionally in people without other health problems, hallucinogens rarely have major health effects. However, they cause elevated pulse, which in people with underlying arteriosclerosis of coronary or cerebral arteries, it can precipitate heart attack or stroke. In patients with underlying psychiatric disease, hallucinogens can cause more serious psychotic reactions.
