What could cause pain in the ear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many causes: When people come to see me with ear pain, I have found many causes. Can be an infection in the middle ear space behind the eardrum, or in the ear canal (swimmer's ear). Can be referred pain from the jaw joint or tmj, which is immedicately in front of the ear. Sometimes it is referred pain from the throat, from sinus drainage or throat infection. A plugged eustacian tube can cause pressure and pain.
