I often get a sore throat and the causes wary. sometimes if i go out in the cold weather or even if i drink something cold or sometimes even if i am tired & sleep late etc. any suggestions on any medications (e.g stronger antihistamine etc) that can help

Sore throat: Finding the cause & treating it. Those meds. Are for lowering temp. And soothing discomfort temporarily. Consult your pcp.

The basics: You avoid infections best by routine hand washing to remove germs acquired by touching where others have planted germs from saliva. If you touch your face or mouth with contaminated fingers you will likely get sick. Extremes in heat/cold can be avoided. Antihistamines & similar meds do little more than give you something to do. Ibuprofen does help with discomfort.
