Blood in the Urine: This could be a sign of infection in the urinary tract or even in the prostate gland. It could be a sign of passing or having passed a kidney stone. And, then there is the exercise induced trauma to the kidneys. Not to mention even the scary risk that this could a sign of bladder cancer. So, all of these need to be investigated. Please help him see the importance of getting in to health care.

He needs evaluation.: Any blood in the urinary tract must be evaluated. The list of causes is long, including urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and kidney trauma. Worrisome diagnoses must be ruled out, such as a bladder or kidney tumor. Please have him see a physician who can perform a urinalysis along with a detailed history and physical exam. Depending on what is found, further tests may need to be performed.
