No: There are many different types of stds. They can be caused by bacteria or viruses. For example, syphilis is by a specific bacteria. Herpes is by a specific virus. Hiv is a specific virus. One infectious cause doesn't turn into another one. You can only get HIV by being exposed to hiv, not by anything else. Otherwise that would be like an apple turning into a banana - impossible.

Use condoms: Hiv is caused by a virus not by other std infections. The presence of any std means that something was caught and it could just as easily been HIV so use a condom and be careful with whom you are sexually active. Protect yourself.

STD Pairing: The short answer is no, however many times, more than one std infects a patient a the same time. That is why we run testing for all std's when the patient presents to the office with one std. Hiv, hpv and herpes are viruses separate from g.C. And chlamydia which are bacteria, and syphilis which is a spirochete.

No: Hiv is a virus which can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. Other std's are caused by different types of organisms like chlamydia, gonorrhea, hpv, syphillis, and many others. Having one std does not turn into another but depending on sexual behavior, number of partners, not getting treated and exposure to people who are unsafe with sexual behavior can increase the chance of other std's.
