Why is preventive medicine so important?

Many reasons: Prevention of disease is easier to accomplish and better for your health compared with allowing disease to happen and then treating it. Why do we brush our teeth? We could just treat the ensuing cavities. Why do we drive safely? We could just drive recklessly and pay the consequences later. Preventing a heart attack is better than having open heart surgery. I trust you'll agree.
