Permethrin: Permethrin is the most effective treatment for scabies. Applied from the neck down, and left on for up to 12 hours, then removed. Ivermectin is an oral medication that can be taken once to treat scabies. Lindane is effective but may cause neurotoxicity and so is used after other remedies have failed.

Remember, body lice are better called clothing lice because they do not live on the body.
