Stay healthy: Your fasting glucose (before meal) should be between 80 & 120. Your sugar 2 hours after you eat should be < 140. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Keep your blood pressure < 130/80. Keep your hbba1c < 7. Keep your body mass index (bmi) < 30 (ideally < 25). Keep your LDL (bad cholesterol) < 100, your HDL >45, and triglycerides < 150.

GREAT ?: the best thing is very good control of your diabetes. means take meds if on as prescribed. lifestyle modifications: ie weight loss , REGULAR EXERCISE and proper eating habits are the cornerstone. control of other cardiovascular risk factors also key. no smoking tobacco, control blood pressure and cholesterol levels if they are an issue. in the end some of it is plan old genetics too.
