Elevation/compressio: First you need to find out the cause of the swelling. There are several possibilities ranging from leakiy valves in veins of legs, to lymphedema or congestive heart failure. See a doctor. Elevating feet and legs often works temporarily in simple cases. Elastic stockings are the best way to keep swelling down assummming there are no serious causes.
