Maybe: Rectal temps show core body temp, less likely to be affected by rapid breathing, drinking of liquids and other factors that can affect oral temps. Ear temps in babies closely approximate these and are generally easier to take, but most adults balk at this method. Sometimes used in ICU sedated patients too. More 'accurate' in that they are less easily altered by environmental variables.
