It goes away: If it is a wart, and not thickened skin as a result of trauma or constant pressure, it results from a viral infection. The outer layer of the skin doesn't have great blood supply so the body's immune system often doesn't address this viral intruder. Treatments can help, but clearing warts from any part of the body is often not successful.

How does it feel?: Depending on your age sometimes warts will go away on their own. If you have had the wart treated somehow then it should eventually peel off or shrink down. If it has not been treated, then it very likely will not go away on its own. There are over the counter treatment options you can try. If they do not work see a podiatrist and they should be able to present more effective treatment options.

See your doctor. : You can try over the counter wart removers, but be careful: i've seen them do more harm than good. Other options your doctor might offer include cryotherapy (freezing the wart), electrocautery (burning the wart), laser treatment, or several different topical chemical treatments. Sometimes they go away on their own, but most often it's easier and faster to have a doctor's help.
