NO : As long as you have taken the bcps diligently you do not need additional protection against pregnancy during the placebo week. However you will need std protection.

No: If you have been on your pill for more than a month your body is well adapted to it and it will prevent egg release during what would have been your fertile window. The placebo pills allow your body to shed the womb contents normally and restart for the next cycle. No egg=no pregnancy.
