No symptoms: May not have any symptoms for long time until there is significant damage to liver causing cirrhosis. At that point damage to liver may be irreversible.Best way to follow progression will be to check liver enzymes, hep c viral count and liver biopsy. There are many new oral and injectable medsthat are helpful for hep c.Follow with your pcp/infectious disease/G.I. Physicians.

Lots of info : People with hepatitis c need to be followed by a specialist who can help determine if, when, and what treatment is needed. There are blood tests that help determine whether someone is likely to have scarring. Some people need liver biopsies. All treatment currently includes interferon and Ribavirin and genotype 1 also includes a protease inhibitor. In 2-4 years treatment will be only pills.
