Can be the same. : For some spotting is just a part of the normal period that includes heavy days as well. Clotting, while common, is generally a reflection of excess bleeding not simple menstrual fluid. Periods change for a given individual for many reasons--stress, environmental changes, and, even mild weight changes. Hope this helps.
