No: Polio is a reaction anyone can have if they become infected with the polio virus. This is a gut virus, similar to many others that just trigger diarrhea, however, in a percentage of those who get the disease, the body reacts with injury/loss of nerves controlling various motor units. It differs person to person with some improving/some permanently impaired. There is no chromosome defect involved.
