Sometimes: Calcium is only a problem if you take your thyroid pills with calcium. Others things, such as soy and iron as well as calcium can interfere with the absorption of the thyroid med. In the past, we had patients wait 4 hours before taking any of these foods. Today, the pills dissolve so fast that you only need to wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything except water.
