Labor pains: Some women have used hypnosis to cope with labor pain. Certainly the lamaze breathing techniques were designed to help women cope. Pain can cause labor to slow down and last longer. Women's perception of pain is different and some women can tolerate pain better than others. Modern anesthetic pain relief helps mothers cope with labor pain and doesn't affect the baby.
