A member asked:

What exactly is nasopharyngitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Inflammation: Nasopharyngitis is an inflammation of the back of the nose. In children, the adenoid is positioned here and often obstructs the breathing if enlarged. In adults, the adenoid is usually atrophied but can be the site of inflammation especially if a sinusitis is active and post-nasal drainage is present. Diagnosis is made by a look with an endoscope by a rhinologist.
