This is just a drug: "illicit" is a term to describe any event where a prescription drug is diverted from the intended scheduled use by the person to which it was prescribed and either used by a 3rd party, sold, stolen etc. The drug itself is just a drug & when used appropriately is a valuable part of treatment for pain.

While it is not illicit, it does have the potential for abuse/misuse and is one of the most-frequently abused prescription drugs in the U.S.
