Absolutely!: Even if there are conscious choices initially about purging, an eating disorder is definitely not an "intentional" condition. And, it has to do with more than just body image. Self-esteem, mood, relationships, personality, anxiety, are all factors -- and more! if you even suspect an eating disorder, get expert evaluation and assistance. Quick!

Yes: Ed's are not intentional, any more than diabetes is. Please do not let people blame you for these terrible illnesses which torture the sufferers.
