Yes: That is in fact the most common cause of bruxism, which leads to TMJ pain. You would likely benefit from a bite splint or you could consider Botox which helps relax your chewing muscles. I did Botox on myself for this and it works great.

Yes: Tmd can be a complex disorder however most doctors believe that stress can result in in nervous energy that manifests itself as grinding and clenching of the teeth. This in turn causes excessive forces on the TMJ joint resulting in an array of symptoms which include popping of the joint and pain. Stress can cause chronic bruxism that results in tooth wear without TMJ symptoms as well.

DEFINITELY: Stress can be a major trigger of bruxism and tmj/tmd pain. If you do so, i would see a dentist to examine you for potential triggers in your bite. You should also consider the source of your stress.
