A 49-year-old member asked:
What does it mean when you have two periods in the same month?

It depends.: Occasional cycle abnormalities are not concerning, but if the pattern persists you may want to visit with your obgyn. This can sometimes be due to anatomical abnormalities like a polyp, a fibroid or a cyst. An ultrasound may be helpful in determining what the problem is. Also, some hormonal abnormalities may lead to abnormal bleeding. Occasionally it may be related to pre-cancer or cancer.

Different causes...: It could be just an irregularity in your ovarian functions which is quite common for teenagers. It might be a side effect of a significant stress event either emotional or physical like significant weight changes.
Or it might be sign of an early pregnancy if you are sexually active.
