4 teaspoons: By this time, the pain should be much less and narcotic medication should not be necessary. I think you could safely take 4 teaspoons of children's tylenol (acetaminophen) safely. I would only recommend this if you really need it. 11 days post-op should have resulted in almost complete healing of the tonsillar fossae.

Not a fun time: Tonsillectomy can be a challenge for kids to recover from, but it is even worse in adults. Anyone who tells you it will be easy is not being realistic. You will likely experience strep-throat-like pain (and also referred ear pain) for between 1 and 4 weeks-- figure on not being back to normal for 3-4 weeks. Consider alternating tylenol (acetaminophen) 500 mg and Motrin 400 mg every 4 hours. Or call your ent.
