Need a Follow-up.: I would assume that these are and immediate release form since your doctor prescribed them so often. The frequency of taking an immediate release medication should not affect the efficacy of the medication. An immediate release form of morphine should be effective within 30-60 min after taking. If you are not getting any relief by that time, then you should discuss this with your physician.

Everybody different: Many factors play a role in how opioids work in your system. Not knowing your age, condition, pain med history you should take as prescribed until talking to your doc. Morphine (all opioids) can kill.

See below: You should not increase the dose without talking to your prescribing doctor first. That said it can be dosed more than 3 times per day.
