Is there any effective and proven way to get rid of masochism?

None: Masochism is a maladaptive coping mechanism starting from being a co-dependent to self-effacement and the victim tends to misinterpret pain for pleasure.

"Getting rid of"?: Depends on whether you mean sexual masochism (a perversion or paraphilia), or the psychologic pattern of subjugating one's self to others in order to obtain love. Paraphilias are incredibly difficult to treat. But the psychological pattern may be addressed in psychotherapy -- and with time and effort, the person may grow and change. Not a "getting rid of, " but an evolution.
