Maybe: If a pet/ct scan is medically indicated for the child , most commonly with a cancer diagnosis. All of radiology has some long term risks involved from any exam/procedure with radiation exposure for the patient. So it always comes down to a risk vs. Benefit discussion with your doctor.

Pediatric hospital: If you child needs a pet scan try to get it done a children's hospital where the exposure to radiation will not be as great.
