Can a flash from a camera damage a newborn's eye sight?

No: It may be annoying. I do not know of any cases nor have ever heard that a camera flash can harm a newborns eyesight.

No: Such a light is too diffuse and unfocused to cause any damage. Otherwise we would have an epidemic since photography of newborns is almost routine.
