Good question: If you had normal; paps usually you have a low risk of getting an abnormal one but your yearly pelvic and breast exam is still very important, because you are more at risk for breast cancer, uterine, vulvar, ovarian cancer that can be diagnosed either early or before it gets to cancer by your gyn, so that is why I have my pts come in every year for the exam, since I am checking all of that.

Depends : If the patient has had no prior history of cervical abnormal cells or cervical cancer, the acog states that routine paps may be stopped after 65. If a women does have a prior history of recent abnormal paps, she should continue screening. The age when they are to end in this case is not studied.

Pap smear: Not if you have never had moderate or severe dysplasia and 3 normal paps (no dysplasia, no high risk hpv) in a row.
