A member asked:

What is meningoencephalocele?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bulging sack: A meningocele is a bulge of tissue from the spinal region or midline of the skull that contains cerebral spinal fluid surrounded by meninges. If there is also nerve or brain tissue in the sack, then it is called a meningomyelocele or meningoencephalocele. These are often referred to as spina bifida. Meningoencephalocele is usually a sack at the front of the skull and can contain brain tissue.
