A member asked:

Does nitroglycerin reduce o2 requirements of the myocardium?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Jesus Yap answered

Yes: There are 3 major determinants of myocardial oxygen consumption- heart rate , arterial pressure and myocardial contractility . Nitroglycerin supposedly works by reducing arterial pressure by direct means and decreasing venous return as long as the heart rate is not accelerated.
