Perhaps: For most people on a low estrogen formulation of the oral contraceptive, it is the Progesterone component of the pill that is most associated with depression. There are many different progestoerones and a different one from the one in orthotricyclin may have less of a mood effect. Norgestimate (in your pill) is usually well tolerated but some feel drospirenone (in Yaz, (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and others) may be better.
