Depends: Each medication has a unique duration & metabolism. Metabolism determines how the med is absordbed, distributed, & removed from the body. Some are gone in 4 hrs, some 7 days. We use 1/2 lives to determine this feature, a long 1/2 life means the drug will be in the body a long time. Also solubility determines a lot- fat soluble meds stay around longer than fat soluble ones. True for vitamins too.
