What's the process transesophageal echocardiography?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TEE: Tee is done under sedative meds which let you not remember the procedure. The back of the throat is numbed and a tube is placed through your mouth and down the esophagus which runs behind the heart. Ultrasound pictures are taken to view the heart in detail. Usually done for looking at the valves, ruling out blood clot in the heart, or looking at "holes in the heart". Lasts about 30 min.
