Thin lining.: It depends how long you have been on the pill. If it is your first month taking it, it is not unusual to have irregular bleeding. On the other hand, if you have been on it for a while first make sure you take it correctly ( do a pregnancy test). If all negative then most likely you are bleeding is related to the thin lining of the inside lining of the uterus. Adding estrogen would help.
