How does pregnancy work after semen enters a woman's body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Conception: After ejaculation, the sperm enter via the cervical canal, into the uterine cavity and into each fallopian tube. Sperm and egg "meet" for fertilization inn the fallopian tube, fertilizatiuon must occur within 24 hours after ovulation or the egg will not be successfully fertilized. The resulting zygote then starts the process of cell duplication and division. Approx 5-7 days later= implantation.
