Collect, test, share: Blood banks will collect blood from volunteer donors. They then test the blood for numerous infectious disease. Then they distribute blood to needed facilities (ie, hospitals). They will also store blood. They communicate their inventory, especially of rare blood types. They are also available for special testing in certain blood disorders.
