More like neuropathy: Numbness has a large differential diagnosis meaning that many different things can cause it. Some are benign and a few are more serious. Best to review your entire history and be examined by a doctor. A good internal medicine, family practicioner, or neurologist should be able to help.

Possible: It most likely is a nerve problem-if so the side of the ring finger would be numb also-i would recommend that you see a hand surgeon.
