Down syndrome: During pregnancy there is the quad screen which is a blood test to check for the risk of down syndrome. If it elevated or the mother is much older, an amniocentesis or chorionic villi sampling can be done to confirm downs.

Prenatal testing: There is now a blood test that can predict Down syndrome. The definitive test has always been amniocentesis.
