What do you know about lipoedema?

Dr. Ted King answered

Painful legs: It is a disorder of adipose (fat) tissue. It is almost exclusively seen in women and usually involves both legs equally but, unlike lymphedema, it spares the feet and is painful. Unfortunately, no amount of exercise and/or weight loss makes lipedemic fat go away. It is usually triggered at puberty, but can start or worsen during or after pregnancy, at peri-menopause, and after gynecologic surgery.

Not a lot: Lipoedema is bilateral swelling of the lower extremities, often causing knee pain. It is often confused with lymphedema. There is no cure at this time. There are multiple web sites out there for people with this problem.
