A member asked:

Why does a scratchy throat turn into a clogged nose?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Membrane: The mucus membrane that covers the throat also covers the nose, sinuses and the eustachian tubes (connect upper throat to middle ear- for pressure equalization)-- scratchy throat doesnt clog the nose but infections or inflammation (i.e., allergy) will inflame the membranes which are all connected to one another like one big sheet-- for example-- you may also develop full ears.
