Smooth muscle: This is a relatively uncommon cancer that arises in smooth muscle, often in the uterus where it masquerades as a rapidly-growing fibroid, or in a vein, especially near the liver, or an old irradiated area, or anywhere else. The diagnosis must be made by a pathologist, and these cancers vary widely in how aggressive they are. Good luck.

Sarcoma: Sarcoma is a cancer of the connective tissues (muscle, bone, fat, etc), which is less common than other types of cancer such as breast cancer, colon cancer, etc. The prefix leiomyo- means that the tumor resembles smooth muscle (the muscle than lines the uterus, GI tract, and blood vessels).
