A DNA virus: HSV I is a strain of a DNA virus well known for it's tendency to recur in humans. It was originally first associated with simple cold sores near the lips but can be found in genital herpes breakouts where HSV type 2 was seen is the primary cause. These DNA viruses can hibernate in the body off & on for a lifetime.
