You can, but...: Be careful about getting your tongue pierced. You spent a lot of time in orthodontic treatment to get a beautiful healthy smile. People with tongue piercings are at a high risk of cracking or fracturing teeth.

Yes: The issue with tongue piercing is that the barbell often causes damage to teeth. You have to way the risk of breaking teeth and needing costly dentistry (which will eventually need to be replaced) verses the value of what a tongue piercing provides you.

Yes, but....: I have seen many fractured teeth from tongue piercing. In addition I have seen many loose the bone over the roots of teeth from lip piercing.

Yes: But...It's not a healthy practice to have a pierced tongue. There are many blood vessels and nerves that traverse the area that are easily damaged during the process. The tongue piercing can also damage teeth and cause loss of bone and gum around the lower front teeth. I am not a fan of tongue piercing!

Don't: Apparently, you "can, " but why? Damage to teeth from tongue piercings is a serious concern.

Dumb: Sure you can if you want broken retainer, fractured teeth, damage to bone and gums on tongue side of teeth, and high risk of trauma to tongue (think"rip").

Tongue ring: Tongue rings are one of those things that make little sense to me, why stick a spike thru your tongue with some artful little ball attached that almost no one will ever see and can cause many dental problems from broken teeth to fractured restorations to infection, not to mention numbness and possible extensive bleeding upon placement. Would not recommend doing it.
