A member asked:

Can i catch a flu illness from sharing beds (when the other person is not in the bed)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Flu from the bed: Yes, but it is not the bed's fault. Respiratory flu is spread mainly by droplet spray from coughing or oral secretions. If you're lying in bed with some one, you are highly likely to be exposed directly, more so, obvsiously, with kissing. If you're just using a partner's bed without the partner in it, the risk is minimal. Same logic applies to stomach flu, but the risk is lower.
