A member asked:

Why do patients with gastrectomy have to eat small quantities of food frequently ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Gastrectomy means surgery to remove a portion or all of the stomach. The stomach is thus made smaller, cannot hold as much, and one would need to eat smaller & more frequent meals to avoid discomfort & vomiting. This type of surgery may be done for caner, stomach ulcers, or for bariatric purposes.
